Eligibility Criteria

  1. Marriages which are already performed according to Hindu rituals are registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955
  2. Either of the parties must be inhabitant of the Tehsil in which the marriage has to be registered.
  3. The girl should be at least 18 years in age and the boy should be at least 21 years in age.

Procedure for the Registration of Marriage in Chandigarh

  1. The couple submits an application in prescribed form stamped with mandatory Court Fees at the time of marriage registration.
  2. On the identification of village numberdar the marriage is registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955
  3. There is no time limit for marriage registration under Hindu Marriage Act.
